Sugar Skull and Mia

Sugar Skull and Mia

Wait for me in the shadows

I will stand beside you in silence

The child is cold

A breeze blows

Through the branches of a dead ash

Mia …..I call out to you

You dance in the shadows

The village is in the distance

I wend my way, holding your hand

It is warm like the rush of blood

Along a tiny vein

We feast at a table set by the villagers

The Sugar Skull is in our presence

They revere the souls of the dead

The flames flicker

The wind blows over the wicks

Smoke fills the air

Once again

I take your hand

Back into the shadows we go

Skipping dust along the way
