Our nation’s radio broadcast network, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation),was created in 1936 as an incentive to promote Canadian content and culture. This was in response to the American broadcast network, gradually expanding into Canada. The CBC television network  was established in 1952, and the first show televised, in colour, was The Forest Rangers,  in 1963.

“Bringing Canadians Together” was the network’s slogan in 1977 – and now after all the years, it  continues to bring our country together through its music, news, stories and entertainment.

  1. So true, Canadians really need to support and protect their valuable institutions. Now what’s in store for the Hudson’s Bay Co.? Oh yeah, forgot, they are no longer a Canadian company.

  2. THANK YOU – INTERESTING HISTORIETTE. I LIKE CBC RADIO BUT NOT SO SURE ABOUT TV THESE DAYS BUT THEN THERE IS HARDLY ANYTHING OF WORTH ON ANY TV STATION. THEIR CHOICE OF CANADIAN MUSIC, I THINK IS A BIT ON THE QUESTIONABLE SIDE BUT SOME OF IT IS PRETTY OK. BASICALLY, I WOULD SAY THAT CBC IS NOT A BAD INSTITUTE AS FAR AS INSTITUTES GO.

      1. FOR SURE, VINYL CAFE IS THE VERY BEST!!!! Q IS INTERESTING. DRAGON’S DEN IS TOO SERIOUS FOR ME AND STROMBO I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF OR MAYBE I AM NOT IN THE CAR WHEN IT COMES ON??
